This guide is to help customers compare and choose between the comb binding and wire binding machines. I recently wrote a guide to help you choose the right binding method, which you can read here. Once you have decided on which binding method best suits your needs, you will need to purchase the relevant binding machine.

Plastic Comb binding and Metal Wire binding are by far our most popular methods so I have created the below binding machine guide to help you choose between our Comb Binding and Wire Binding Machines.

Key Factors to Consider when choosing a suitable Comb or Wire machine:

  • What budget do you have available?
  • How often you will be binding?
  • How many sheets can the machine punch?
  • What size documents are you binding?

Below I have grouped the NZ Binding Comb binding and Wire binding machines so you can easily compare them and decide which one suits your requirement best.

I have also created a Binding Machine Comparison Table so all machines can be compared at a glance.

Entry Level Plastic Comb and Metal Wire Machines

Below is the C12 Comb Binding Machine and WM771 Wire Binding Machine which are perfect entry level machines offering great value for money for anyone looking to bind occasionally.

Electric Plastic Combs and Metal Wire Machines

The CM701E Comb Binding Machine and WM703E Wire Binding Machine both have an electric punch, operated using an electric foot pedal, rather than having to manually pull down a lever. The combination of an electric punch and higher punch capacity greatly reduces the physical effort to bind. These binding machines are recommended for heavy use where binding time and efficiency are crucial.

CM701E – Can punch 34 sheets (80 gsm) at a time
WM703E – Can punch 30 sheets (80 gsm) at a time

CM701E – Uses Plastic Combs to bind documents up to 425 sheets (80 gsm)
WM703E – Uses 34 Loop 3:1 Metal Wires to bind documents up to 120 sheets (80 gsm)

Specialist Dual Comb and Wire Binding Machines

We also offer two specialist machines, we have the CW2500 Comb and Wire Binding Machine which can bind both Plastic Combs and Metal Wire on a single machine, saving office space. The WW2500 is a dual wire machine meaning you can bind wire documents both in 2:1 and 3:1 pitch, allowing you to wire bind large and small documents on a single machine.

Both machines can punch 25 sheets (80 gsm) at a time.

CW2500 – Uses Plastic Combs to bind documents up to 425 sheets (80 gsm) and uses 34 Loop 3:1 Metal Wires to bind documents up to 120 sheets (80 gsm)

WW2500 – Uses 34 Loop 3:1 and 23 Loop 2:1 Metal Wires to bind documents up to 240 sheets (80 gsm)
